About Us
Short History
Ekaya Housing Association was founded in 1987 through the merger of three projects, Family Support Services and the hostels, Ifeoma and Kabo. Ekaya provides housing and support services South of the Thames. Since its establishment, the Association has grown considerably; providing its primary client base, consisting of young single black mothers, with quality housing and support services. Ekaya was set up to provide temporary hostel accommodation as well as being a permanent provider of homes.
Ekaya currently owns 352 units and we manage 5 units of accommodation on behalf of other registered social landlords. Ekaya also owns 11 other houses for mothers and their children and manage a further 2 on behalf of other RSLs.
The association is governed by a voluntary board, whose experience encompasses social housing, business, support services and finance. We also have tenant Board members, whose knowledge of the business and personal experience of the services of Ekaya assists us in critically evaluating the services and the organisation. Overall we have 39 paid staff.
