How We Allocate Our Properties
Property Size/Household Size Ratios
When allocating homes, Ekaya will try to ensure the size of the premises match the size of the household as far as possible to try and make the best use of its stock.
When considering re-housing requirements, in most circumstances the following will be deemed to be appropriate to needs:
Single adult
1 single bedroom or bedsit
Couple or head of single parent household
1 double bedroom
One child in family
Single bedroom of their own.
Child over fourteen years
Single bedroom of their own
Two children under fourteen years of the same sex
Double bedroom
Two children of opposite sex where oldest is not yet 9.
Double bedroom

Two children of opposite sex where the oldest has reached 9.
Two single bedrooms

Transfer applicants who are eligible for a home with two bedrooms or more may also apply for a home smaller than their needs (e.g. a tenant who is eligible for a 4-bed home, may join the 4-bed and the 3-bed waiting lists), to improve their chances of being rehoused.
