Abandonment Policy
The aim of this policy and procedure is to ensure that Ekaya’s properties are occupied by legitimate tenants and that steps are taken as quickly as possible to recover possession of properties which have been abandoned and are empty, or which have been sub-let or, in some other way, occupied by unauthorised persons.
The underlying principle is that the Association’s properties are allocated to women who comply with our mission statement. Their applications are assessed carefully by the Association (and by the nominating council) Sub-letting by tenants and other unauthorised occupation undermines this principle, as well as being a breach of the Conditions of Tenancy.
